| Apr. 22nd, 2009 05:01 pm Also, Before It's Too Late The American Collection opened at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, today. It's been reorganized and refurbished and it is truly amazing.
But the "before it's too late" part. That's the Caricature, Fashion and Fantasy Exhibit which closes on April 26, 2009 also at the Nelson.
The whole museum is free now. You can park underground for $5. The Nelson's hours aren't necessarily correct on the web page: [ http://www.nelson-atkins.org ], so call before you go, (816) 751-1278, unless you're already right on top of this.
Also, before it's too late, plan to attend the Kansas City Film Fest which also opened today. It's at the new AMC Mainstreet Theatre in the Power and Light District. Amazing venue. Here's what all about the Film Fest: http://kcfilmfest.org/ And here's a schedule of the films: http://kcfilmfest.org/b-side/films/

I think these all lead to the same page. The certainly do today. You'll miss the fun of it all if you go after midnight.

| Apr. 3rd, 2009 08:15 pm Vote for X-Men Origins: Wolverine Premiere Locale To put in a bid to host the premiere, fans need only remember that “X marks the spot.” At the website x-menorigins.com/premiere, they should mark your town with a digital “X,” or just "X" Kansas City :-) The location with the most votes/X’s will win the red carpet, star-studded movie premiere.
Don't forget to send this link to your friends!
The winning town will be announced on April 20th.
Twentieth Century Fox releases the film everywhere May 1st. Leave a comment

| Apr. 3rd, 2009 10:45 am Carpe Diem Okay, I know about "seize the day," but "Carpe Diem" always looks as though it should mean, "Complaint of the Day." With that in mind I wish to complain about iGoogle. I'll admit I use a lot of Google products. And they are all free. And most of the time they work well. I'll also admit it's crass to look a gift horse in the mouth, so I've never complained about Google.
But suddenly, in the wee hours of Monday morning, when I clicked on "Google" in my Google toolbar, I didn't get the nice, clean, white Google search page. I got an iGoogle page!
I never asked for this and I don't want it. Here's why: 1. I won't be able to see the cool variations on the Google logo as they occur. And I love them. I want them. Such great surprises. 2. Clicking on "iGoogle" doesn't take me to the Google home. Neither does clicking on "About Google" in the middle of the page. 3. The page is no longer nice and clean and white. The search box is near the top of the page. The bottom of the page is in the middle where the search box should be. It's really ugly.
I don't know how to get rid of iGoogle.
Is it true you can't go home again? Leave a comment

| Apr. 1st, 2009 10:18 am Ants Ants are so much like human beings as to be an embarrassment. They farm fungi, raise aphids as livestock, launch armies into war, use chemical sprays to alarm and confuse enemies, capture slaves, engage in child labor, exchange information ceaselessly. They do everything but watch television. -- Lewis Thomas
